Driver Spotlight: Mother's Day: Kim B. (Chicago, IL)

Kimberly Barnes, a DeliverThat driver from Chicago, has lived in the city all her life. With a background in management and supervision at various companies, she has found a new passion for delivering food and providing exceptional customer service.

DeliverThat is the only app-based job that Kimberly currently works, and she has found it to be a great fit for her lifestyle. As a gig driver, she appreciates the flexibility and freedom it provides.

Kimberly first found out about DeliverThat while scrolling through Facebook. She recalls feeling both excited and nervous before her first delivery, but her passion for cooking and people helped her push through any nerves. “I’m a people person. I do what I can to provide great customer-service, and love meeting and talking to new people. After the first delivery on the platform, I got a good feel for the app and how everything works. From there, it was smooth sailing,” Kim said.

When asked about her favorite part of working for DeliverThat, Kimberly emphasizes the fact that the company is by drivers, for drivers. “DeliverThat understands the challenges that drivers face and has immediate solutions to their problems. They also pay the best. I can be out driving for an hour and make over $100. You can't beat it,” Kim claimed.

For newer drivers looking to maximize their time on the platform, Kimberly offers one piece of advice: be on time and communicative with both the customer and DeliverThat. She has found that building relationships with staff at the restaurants she delivers for has helped make her job easier and her day run smoothly. “If I know a restaurant is going to be on time, it helps me do my job even better. I don’t have to worry about running late and can just focus on being a professional.

In her free time, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her family and church community. Cooking is also a non-money-making hobby that she loves. Though her kids are grown, Kim is another super-star mother on our platform - and now a grandmother! “Being a grandmother has been a blessing in my life. It is honestly better than being a mom! I get to do all the fun stuff, without the difficult parenting side. Everyone loves grandma!” Kim said.

Kimberly’s passion for food, people, communication, and customer service has made her a successful DeliverThat driver. She always strives to make the customer happy, which is evident in her consistently positive reviews. We thank Kim for taking the time to speak with us and share her story with Driver Nation. Keep #DeliveringMore!
