Driver Spotlight: Joy O. (Phoenix, AZ)

Updated: Nov 16, 2022

Welcome back to the Spotlight, Joy O. from Phoenix! We last talked to joy in June of 2020, after she had been on the DeliverThat platform for two years. Since joining in 2018, Joy has not only become one of our best, most tenured delivery drivers, but she has set the standard for what it means to be a catering delivery driver with DeliverThat.

Everyone at DeliverThat HQ knows Joy from Phoenix. Greeting every call with "Merry Christmas, this is Joy" year-round, she sets a 'Joy’-ful tone with every phone call and approaches every situation professionally and positively. As Joy said, every relationship builds by spending more quality time with someone. "I look at my relationship with DeliverThat like the organic growth of a relationship. When you spend more time with someone, you get to know them better. When you spend more time on an app's platform, you get to know the app's intricacies. And in DeliverThat's case, you get to know the people," she said. Joy continued by saying, "Communication is King or Queen in any relationship, and it is no different with my relationship with DeliverThat. I am active on 29 different app-based platforms, I operate my own business side hustle, I am a care provider, I'm on-call for local businesses in the area for their deliveries, and out of all of them, DeliverThat's support team is unmatched."

When asked what makes her successful on the DeliverThat platform, Joy said she pictures herself as a customer. "I imagine myself as the customer placing these large orders, and I do my best to provide that level of service I expect. A few keys are to always double-check with the restaurant that all the food you have loaded in your car is the complete order. Being able to catch the missing items before you arrive at the drop-off will save the customer's experience," she said. Joy also always makes a point to contact the customer with any updates to the order and to let them know when she is on the way to their location.

As a veteran of the gig economy, we asked Joy what might attract other drivers to the DeliverThat platform. "I touched on it before, but the U.S.-based support team is the number one thing that would attract new and veteran drivers to DeliverThat. Every veteran driver knows how often you need support help on deliveries, and not having to struggle over a language barrier increases the efficiency of the delivery process. For a newer driver, it is comforting having that support team for whenever you run into any snags," she said.

We at Deliverthat cannot thank Joy enough for her dedication over the years. Her professional and positive delivery approach provides an unmatched experience to everyone involved in the delivery process. It is the reason she is the standard of excellence on our platform. Keep #DeliveringMore, Joy!
