Welcome back to another Driver Spotlight! This week, we're featuring Jeff Ledbetter, a seasoned driver from Fort Myers, FL. Another veteran of the DeliverThat platform, this is Jeff’s second time in the Driver Spotlight. You can read the 2021 Driver Spotlight on the whole Ledbetter family, here.
Prior to his career as a driver, Jeff spent 25 years as a Certified Chef/Manager. A veteran of the industry, Jeff often draws on his knowledge and experiences in his past career to help him while delivering.
When asked how he first found out about DeliverThat, Jeff shared that he met a DeliverThat driver while doing a delivery for another app, who introduced him to the platform. “I was doing gig work for another company and arrived at a restaurant a bit early. I saw a driver with the big blue DeliverThat bags and got to talking. The mentioned they drove for this company called DeliverThat, so I decided to check it out”, said Jeff.
Going into his first delivery for DeliverThat, Jeff admitted to feeling nervous and called the help line multiple times as he was still learning the app and figuring out the set-up expectations. “I remember the first day, I must have called in somewhere between 5 and 10 time, every little move, every step in the app, just trying to make sure I was meeting the expectations. I just wanted to get it right,” he said.
As someone who has worked in the gig-economy for a while now, Jeff highlighted the freedom to set his own hours, be his own boss, take off when needed, and have less stress as the biggest benefits of being a gig driver. He also expressed his appreciation for working with a company that is By Drivers, For Drivers, as they understand what drivers go through and are always helpful and understanding.
For newer drivers looking to maximize their time on the DeliverThat platform, Jeff advised them to be on time or early for pickups, plan ahead and know the size of their orders, and come prepared with travel bags, boxes, and a hand cart.
When asked about his favorite delivery experience on the platform, Jeff recalled a time when he came across a fellow DeliverThat driver whose car had broken down mid-delivery. “
Finally, Jeff shared his mantra for success on the platform - “everything will be fine, everything will go great”. He emphasized the importance of being prepared, communicating with the team when there's an issue or question, and providing quick and good service while always learning from mistakes.
Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your experiences and insights with us! We appreciate all that you do. Keep #DeliveringMore
