Jake V is no stranger to DeliverThat's roads, having embarked on his journey from Northeast Ohio, all thanks to a unique connection to the company's founders, Aaron and John. With a track record in the gig economy, Jake's route has spanned delivering rides with Lyft to crafting culinary experiences with DeliverThat. Joining Driver Nation in 2018, Jake has balanced life on the field and in the car in winning fashion.
Jake's DeliverThat journey started in Northeast Ohio, but his connection to the founders, Aaron and John, brought him to Charlotte after a brief stop in Dayton. Although he's been in Charlotte for a little over a year, Jake's gig economy experience dates back to his days driving with Lyft before becoming a vital part of the DeliverThat team in 2018.
Aside from navigating deliveries, Jake is also a seasoned college football coach. His unique blend of skills from the field translates well into his role as a driver, where precision and timing are equally important.
Jake's initial encounter with DeliverThat was more of a homecoming. Having grown up with the founders and other team members, he found himself joining a community he was already familiar with.
Recalling his first delivery, Jake shares, "I was excited to be helping friends out with their journey. I did everything I could to make it go well." This enthusiasm and dedication have been a hallmark of his DeliverThat experience. When asked about the gig economy's benefits, Jake points out the extra income it provides. "Being a football coach, being able to drive with DeliverThat in the off-season has helped me in tight times," he says.
For newcomers, Jake offers valuable advice: "Take the breakfast deliveries when you can get them. Starting your day making money before some people are awake only gives you the advantage". he adds, "Work smarter, not harder, use a dolly or wagon - take the burden off yourself as much as possible."
