DeliverThat delivering more during the holiday season

The holiday season isn’t about gifts and what you get from someone else. It isn’t about cookies and the big turkey or ham for your family meal. Holidays are about coming together and helping those who are in need.

Giving back is the best gift and many people do not expect it. Smile at someone you wouldn’t normally smile at. Invite a friend over for dinner. Give an unexpected hug to someone who his having a hard time. It’s the little things that mean the most during the holidays and bring the biggest smiles to a mom, dad, or child’s face.

This season, DeliverThat is taking a step in the direction of community spirit and hosting a Toy Drive for Toys for Tots, sponsored through the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. This program distributes toys to children whose parents are not able to purchase gifts at Christmas time. Bill Hendricks and his wife Diane started this program in 1947. Bill was a Major in the Marine Corps Reserve. Their mission, “is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted” (Toys for Tots, 2019). In addition, the company is hosting a Clothing Drive for men, women and children who are in need this season. All items will be donated to First Christian Church at the end of the donation period. First Christian Church has a common goods space, allowing those in need to enter and pick up items they need. It’s a great service, especially during times of giving. The donation period for DeliverThat starts now and ends December 13th.

Not only is DeliverThat hosting Toys for Tots and the Clothing Drive internally; we are branching out to our restaurant partners, local drivers, friends, family and the community at-large to help out and support our community. Tis' the season of giving and love and DeliverThat wants to embrace it as much as we can!

The Toys for Tots Drive has two ways for our employees, our friends, families, community members and, yes, even our drivers, to help participate and donate. Donating new, unused and unwrapped toys for girls and boys of all ages is the first step. Unfortunately, plush or stuffed animals are not accepted for safety reasons. Monetary donations also are accepted for the Toys for Tots Drive, to help purchase additional toys for the children.

Our Clothing Drive is being donated to the First Christian Church, accepting gently used or new clothing items for men, women and children. Blankets, new socks and new undergarments, new hats and gloves are also welcome (all sizes). First Christian Church opens their doors to those in need all year long, to pick up items for themselves and their families.

DeliverThat is lending a helping hand to provide additional help and support to families in need. Please contact Lisa Hendershott (lisa.hendershott@ideliverthat.com) or Jim Dehnke (jim@ideliverthat.com) for donation drop off times. We would love your support this season. Tis' the season to give back and help those in need. Love your community, love the children, love DeliverThat.
